A Tight Timeline and Zero Tolerance for Defects
Norda Home, a Japanese home-textile retailer, needed a premium blackout curtain line for the upcoming spring season. Japanese consumers are notoriously demanding — seam alignment, pleating crispness and fabric hand-feel must all meet exacting standards, and any visible defect can trigger a full-return claim.
The project window was just 45 days from sign-off to bulk shipment, including three rounds of sampling, third-party lab testing and a final AQL inspection.
Solution
Shape-Memory Pleats and Three-Round Sampling
We recommended our Grade-1 shape-memory blackout fabric — pleats stay crisp after washing, a key selling point in Japan. Our engineering team ran three sampling rounds (proto, salesman, pre-production) to lock fabric hand-feel, drape and dimensional tolerance before bulk weaving.
In-process QC was tightened to inspect every 200 units, and a third-party lab verified blackout rating (99%+), colorfastness and formaldehyde limits against Japanese regulations.
Result
On-Time Delivery and a Renewed Contract
All 12,000 sets shipped on schedule. The final AQL 2.5 inspection passed at a 0.4% defect rate — well under the 1% target. Norda Home renewed the contract for the second season and expanded the line to include sheer lace curtains.
