Antibacterial Pet Sofa Covers for a European Pet Brand
A European pet brand needed antibacterial, water-repellent sofa covers in multiple sizes. We developed a mini-waffle two-way stretch fabric and shipped 5,000 units in the first run.
Challenge
Hygiene, Stretch and a Broad Size Range
Lumen Pets, a DTC pet brand in Europe, wanted a sofa cover that was genuinely antibacterial (not just marketing copy), water-repellent for accidents, and flexible enough to fit sofas from 1-seater to 4-seater without sliding.
They also needed OEKO-TEX certification to sell into the EU market and a quick 60-day launch window to hit the Q4 holiday season.
Solution
Mini-Waffle Two-Way Stretch with Silver-Ion Treatment
Our R&D team developed a mini-waffle polyester fabric with two-way stretch, then applied a silver-ion antibacterial finish achieving 99% bacterial reduction per AATCC 100. A TPU backing provided waterproofing without sacrificing breathability.
We graded the cover into 5 sizes (S–XXL) with anti-slip silicone dots, and ran lab tests for OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, REACH and California Prop 65 compliance in parallel with sampling.
Result
5,000 Units Shipped and a Line Extension
The first 5,000 units landed in Europe ahead of the holiday peak. Customer reviews highlighted the snug fit and the genuine antibacterial effect. Lumen Pets extended the partnership to pet beds and waterproof blankets for the next season.
